PlayStation VR2 headsets can be used on PC with SteamVR starting today

As of today, the PlayStation VR2 headset can now be used on PCs. Sony's latest headset has impressive specs, but sales have been low, which has led to a downturn in the number of PS VR2 titles, especially first-party games, of which there have been very few of. Now, those who bought a headset can instead use it on the PC platform, which has access to a much larger range of titles.

One of Sony's biggest mistakes with the PlayStation VR2 was not including backwards compatibility with original PSVR games. As a result, those upgrading essentially had to start their game libraries over from scratch, while paying a premium for newer PS VR2 titles. Now, users can take their headsets over to the PC platform, where there is wider availability of VR games at more reasonable prices via stores like Steam.

In order to get your PS VR2 headset running on PC with SteamVR, you'll need to buy one more overpriced piece of hardware – Sony's official PC VR adapter, which is now available for £49.99.

Once you have the adapter in-hand, you'll just need to install the PS VR2 app on Steam, plug the headset in and go through the setup process. From there, you'll be able to easily access SteamVR and play games like Half-Life: Alyx.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully in time, we'll also see the few PS VR2 exclusive titles on PS5 also making their way over to PC.
