DOOM Eternal gets official mod support and new idStudio editor

We are still some ways off from getting our hands on DOOM: The Dark Ages. In the meantime, Bethesda and id Software are handing the keys over to the community with official mod support for DOOM Eternal, including a new idStudio editor.

Some mods for DOOM Eternal already exist on sites like Nexus Mods, even without any official tools. However, with the new idStudio software editor, modders will be able to do much more with the game, including the creation of original works.

A public beta for idStudio is already available on PC via Steam. To browse and install offocial mods, you can opt into the PC Mod Preview on Steam by clicking on DOOM Eternal, going to properties, and then opting into the beta via the Betas tab. idStudio is downloaded separately and is used to actually create mods.

To support the modding community, id Software is also uploading guides and tutorials, which you can find HERE.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see some new mods for DOOM Eternal once this update rolls out to everyone. As this is all still in beta for now, there could be issues browsing, installing or creating mods, but the beta period should end within the next couple of months.
