New ARK 2 confirms 2023 launch and teases Unreal Engine 5 graphics

It has been almost two years since Ark 2 was first announced. Last night during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, Ark 2 finally re-emerged, with a new trailer featuring Vin Diesel and Auli'i Cravalho, as well as new details about the game, which will be quite different from its predecessor.

Ark 2 will be based on Unreal Engine 5, using a third-person camera (instead of first-person) and featuring souls-like combat. Additionally, characters will be able to mantle, climb, slide, swing and do parkour to move from one point to the other. Mod support (mod.io) will also be present, allowing creators to add new creatures, maps, items and gameplay features.

The new ARK game will be set in a new dynamic world, “where native flora and fauna are being overrun by invasive primeval creatures, from an extinct Earth”. In this world, you'll also find the ‘Aratai' hunt, which will attack you on sight. As you play, natural and unnatural occurrences will constantly be happening throughout the world. You choose if you interact with them or not. Moreover, you can craft weapons, tools and gear to increase your chances of survival.

ARK 2 will launch in 2023 on Steam (Early Access) and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available via Xbox and PC Game Pass on Game Preview. To celebrate the announcement of ARK 2, anyone with a Steam account can get the original ARK: Survival Evolved for free.

KitGuru says: After a rough launch, ARK eventually became a game loved by many that's still being actively played. Hopefully, ARK 2 will have a smoother launch. Did many of you play the original Ark? Will you be returning for the sequel?
