AMD officially lists the Radeon RX 6700, first benchmarks emerge

After a surprising launch of the Sapphire Radeon 6700, AMD listed the Radeon RX 6700 on its website. After the listing went online, Sapphire renamed its graphics card, adding the “RX” branding to it. Moreover, the first benchmarks of an RX 6700 SKU have been shared.

According to AMD, the official specifications of the Radeon RX 6700 list the card as packing a Navi 22 GPU with 2304 stream processors (36 CUs) with a base frequency of 1,941MHz, a game frequency of 2,174MHz and a boost frequency of 2,450MHz. The memory subsystem includes 10GB of GDDR6 clocked at 16Gbps across a 160-bit memory bus. The card also features 80MB of Infinity Cache and has a TBP of 175W.

Interestingly, after AMD listed the new SKU, Sapphire renamed its Radeon 6700 cards to RX 6700. Based on these reference specifications, the two Sapphire cards are factory-overclocked.

Before renaming the cards, Sapphire shipped a few without the “RX” branding to customers. One of these tried it on 3DMark Time Spy and shared the results online, allowing us to compare with the rest of the Radeon RX 6000 series line-up. The scores shared by MEGASizeGPU were obtained using the standard 22.5.2 driver and an updated version of the same driver that supports the new GPU. Here are the 3DMark Time Spy scores:

  • Sapphire Radeon (RX) 6700 using the old driver and default power setting: 9,427 points
  • Sapphire Radeon (RX) 6700 using the old driver and max power setting: 10,304 points
  • Sapphire Radeon (RX) 6700 using the new driver and default power setting: 11,166 points
  • Sapphire Radeon (RX) 6700 using the new driver and max power setting: 11,414 points

The difference between using the standard and the updated driver is quite significant. Using the same power setting, performance improved by 11-18%. Moreover, we can also say that the card performs right between the Radeon RX 6650 XT and the RX 6700 XT, as expected. Based on the average graphics scores, the Sapphire RX 6700 (factory OC) was about 12% faster than the RX 6650 XT. Comparing the RX 6700 to its XT variant, the latter is 14% faster.
