Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak heads to Nintendo Switch and PC this week

Monster Hunter Rise has been dominating Switch charts since its launch last year and has become a top seller on Steam thanks to its early 2022 PC launch. Later this week, Monster Hunter will be back in the spotlight with the Sunbreak expansion officially launching.

Today during a Nintendo Direct Mini, Capcom debuted the launch trailer for Sunbreak, giving us a look at a mix of cinematics, gameplay and a tease of what to expect in post-launch updates:

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak adds a new storyline, set directly after the events of the main game. Hunters will journey across the sea to Elgado Outpost and begin investigating the appearance of the Three Lords – a trio of gigantic monsters, including the hulking Garangolm, the icy wolf wyvern Lunagaron and Malzeno, this expansion's flagship Elder Dragon.

After finishing the main campaign, there is still more work to be done. Capcom plans to introduce additional monsters, including some returning fan favourites from previous Monster Hunter games. As usual, these content updates will be free.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam) on the 30th of June. The first Sunbreak DLC hunt, Seething Bazelgeuse, will be arriving on both platforms in August.
