During State of Play last week, Capcom revealed a new trailer for Street Fighter 6, as well as a 2023 release date. The publisher planned to reveal more details later this year, including the character roster, but leaks swooped in beforehand. Rather than avoiding the issue, Capcom has directly addressed the leak, essentially confirming its validity.
Street Fighter 6 is on track to release in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game is not coming to Microsoft's last-gen Xbox One system, but Street Fighter 6 does mark a return for the franchise on Xbox, as Street Fighter 5 was a PS4 console exclusive. The game is built on the RE Engine, which has powered Capcom's major releases for a few years now.
In terms of the character roster, there are 22 planned characters for Street Fighter 6 so far. Some of these characters are fan favourites, but there are some new faces sprinkled in too. The leak, which you can see in full on Resetera, shows all the characters with their Japanese names written below.
Capcom did not ignore the situation, tweeting that “we've all seen things we weren't supposed to see” and thanking fans for their positive reactions and support.

KitGuru Says: The leak seemed fairly legitimate from the beginning, but Capcom's tweet essentially confirms it. From the sounds of it, Capcom was going to announce the roster pretty soon anyway, likely at EVO later this year.
