A couple of weeks ago, EA and DICE announced that the first season of Battlefield 2042 is finally nearing release. The big update will be dropping soon, and we'll be getting the first gameplay footage later today.
Later today at 4PM BST, DICE will release the Battlefield 2042 Season One gameplay trailer, giving us our first look at the hundreds of changes in place. Aside from the first new content since launch, the Season One update, also known as Patch 1.0.0, will include “hundreds of changes, bug fixes and quality of life improvements”.
After the trailer drops, the update should go live across all platforms soon afterwards, so if you have Battlefield 2042 installed, expect a big update to be waiting to download sometime this week.
Aside from bug fixes and quality of life changes, DICE is also making some key improvements to several game modes. The 128 player conquest mode is being altered slightly to feature “less Sectors and Capture points”, Breakthrough mode is being reduced to 64 players to enable more focused, tactical gameplay, and new 32-player modes like Rush will be coming back.
Battlefield 2042's flagship mode, Hazard Zone, will not see any further content, but the mode will remain playable as-is with no more updates, aside from essential fixes when required.

KitGuru Says: Many will argue that it is already too late for Battlefield 2042 to make a huge comeback, but we have seen DICE pull this off in the past. Many people had problems with Battlefield 4 in its first year, but that game is now fondly remembered. Will you be returning to the game to try out the new updates?
