Rumoured RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 specs updated

We've been hearing whispers about Nvidia's next-gen RTX 40 series graphics cards for a while now. As we near the expected 2H22 launch, leakers are beginning to share more details, with the latest including specifications for the RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and the RTX 4070.

Starting with the RTX 4090, the new report from kopite7kimi claims Nvidia's upcoming high-end SKU will pack 16,384 CUDA cores, about 256 more than initially expected. That also means that instead of 126 SMs, it will come with 128. Assuming the report is accurate, the RTX 4090 Ti/Titan would have between 128 and 144 SMs (total amount in the AD102 GPU). The report also says the card will have 24GB of GDDR6X memory at 21Gbps and a TBP of 450W.

According to the same report, the RTX 4080 would come with an AD103-300 GPU with 10,240 CUDA cores (80 SMs), a 256-bit memory bus and 16GB of GDDR6 memory at 18Gbps. However, the latter is still questionable. Additionally, the report states the card would come with a TBP of 420W, but like the memory spec, that's not confirmed.

Lastly, the RTX 4070 may feature an AD104-275 GPU with 7,168 CUDA cores, 10GB of GDDR6 memory across a 160-bit memory bus, and a 300W TBP. That's 2GB of VRAM less than first reported. In addition, the memory bus is also narrower, coming down from 192- to 160-bit.

Nvidia's first RTX 40 series graphics cards are expected to release later this year, during Q3/Q4.

KitGuru says: Nvidia hasn't announced any RTX 40 GPUs yet, or set a launch date publicly, so we've still got a ways to go before we get official specs and other details.
