We've seen plenty of 240Hz gaming monitors hitting the market in recent years, but finding a monitor that exceeds that refresh rate is still pretty rare. That's beginning to change, with the latest Asus TUF Gaming monitor sporting a 270Hz refresh rate.
Using a 24-inch Fast IPS 1080p panel with 1ms (G2G) response time, the Asus TUF Gaming VG249QM1A is capable of a maximum refresh rate of 270Hz via overclocking. The brightness is set at 350nits (typical) and the contrast ratio at 1000:1. These specs, alongside the 8-bit colour depth, help the monitor cover 99% of the sRGB colour space.
The monitor uses flicker-free technology and trace-free technology. Moreover, it supports AMD FreeSync Premium, ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur), DisplayWidget, Variable Overdrive, Shadow Boost, and is compatible with Nvidia G-Sync. Lastly, it has a low blue light mode, multiple colour presets and an option to enable the GameVisual overlay.
The monitor features two 2W speakers and has a DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and an earphone jack. The included stand only allows the user to tilt the monitor, but you can always mount the monitor on a VESA 100x100mm monitor arm to enhance ergonomics.
KitGuru says: Would you prefer a 1080p monitor with a 240Hz+ refresh rate over a 1440p monitor running at 165Hz?
