Back in 2020 ahead of Cyberpunk's eventual release, CD Projekt Red announced that it had teamed up with Netflix and Studio Trigger to produce an anime series set in the Cyberpunk universe. Things have been quiet since then, but Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is finally on the way, and the first trailer looks pretty great.
Studio Trigger is well known amongst anime fans, producing series like Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, as well as films like Promare. The studio was founded by former Gainax (known for Evangelion, FLCL and Gurren Lagann) employees in 2011 and has made a name for itself with strong artistic direction and excellent visuals. Trigger's style is pretty apparent in the trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which you can see below.
The teaser trailer gives us a look at the cast of characters and a sneak preview of the trouble they'll all be getting mixed up in around Night City. The series will be a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to make it by in Night City, eventually taking on mercenary jobs.
The series will be available on Netflix in September 2022.
KitGuru Says: The trailer looked great in my opinion, so fingers crossed the final series can live up. What did you call think of the Edgerunners trailer? Will you be watching this when it releases?
