Some studios are developing blockchain-based games with NFTs and such. Most of these are playable on mobile, web browsers and PCs, but it seems those interested in these types of games will have another platform to play on soon.
A company known as Polium has announced the Polium One, a “multi-chain console for web 3 gaming”. In other words, it is the first ‘Web 3' focused games console, exclusively focusing on blockchain technology and the emerging ‘play to earn' games market. According to Polium, its console will run multiple blockchains, and support 4K, 8K, up to 120FPS gaming and ray-tracing.

The controller takes some design cues from the PlayStation DualShock 3 but with a better feature set. Besides the fingerprint scanner, it will also have a wallet button for quick access to the built-in multi-chain wallet.
After the announcement, some have used social media to show their discontent with the console. That's not surprising, considering it's linked to cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Moreover, this project is being developed by just four individuals, another factor that makes the community doubtful about executing such an ambitious project.
Another point of contention has been Polium's logo, which looks very similar to the Nintendo Gamecube logo. This has caused enough of a stir that Polium has already confirmed plans to design a new ‘original' logo. The company also claims to be working on a functional prototype of the system before seeking any funding. At this point in time, no games have been confirmed for the system.
As you might expect, NFTs will be involved in funding the project. Polium plans to make a ‘Polium Pass' NFT available on the Ethereum network. Ownership of the NFT will serve as a pre-order for the console.
