The original Pokémon Snap is coming to Nintendo Switch Online

For many, Pokémon Snap (1999) holds a special place in their heart, with the Nintendo 64 game offering Pokémon fans their first proper look at these pocket monsters in a 3D environment. As they have been doing since its launch, the Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack service is seeing one new additional game added per month – with June’s being the aforementioned Pokémon Snap.

Making the announcement, Nintendo said “Catching Pokémon is a snap! Travel to Pokémon Island and meet Professor Oak to begin a safari to take the best possible photographs of over 60 different Pokémon. The Pokémon Snap game, originally released for the Nintendo 64 system, will be available on 6/24 for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.”

Pokémon Snap may not be the longest game out there, with an average playtime clocking in at just 6 hours for a completionist run, but it is one of the more beloved Nintendo 64 games – especially if you grew up as a Pokémon fan during the era of Snap’s release.

Though it is undoubtedly frustrating to see only one N64 game added per month to the service, NSO’s games are permanent additions, meaning that hopefully given enough time the majority of the system’s library will be brought over to the Switch. Our coverage of May’s NSO game of the month (Kirby 64) can be found HERE.
