Sony to announce new “Perfect for PS5” gaming monitors and headsets

Sony is much more than just a console manufacturer. The tech giant has its fingers in a wide number of pies, including but not limited to music, film, TV, and games – all of which Sony also makes hardware for. According to a new report, Sony is set to announce new gaming headsets, as well as two “Perfect for PS5” gaming monitors.

91mobiles and Ronil Thakkar recently leaked the existence of three new gaming-focused headsets from Sony: the INZONE H3, H7 and H9. The devices’ colour scheme falls neatly in line with the design of the PS5 itself, with a white and black colour combo (accompanied by a hint of blue on the H9).

All three headsets come with 360 Spatial audio (one of the PS5’s ‘next gen’ features), though the H3 model can only be used with a wire. The H7 and H9 meanwhile are both wireless devices, seemingly able to utilise both bluetooth and a USB dongle.

The headsets show subtle design differences between them, however the primary differentiator between all three seems to be that upgrading to the H7 over the H3 will net you wireless connectivity while the H9 adds Active Noise Cancelling on top.

Even more exciting perhaps is the report from Tom Henderson (via Exputer) which claims that as well as the aforementioned headsets, Sony is also set to reveal two new “perfect for PS5” gaming monitors.

Also under the INZONE brand, Sony will be offering two quite different models of monitors. While both will come with “exclusive features for PlayStation” such as auto HDR Tone Mapping, Auto Genre Picture Mode and VRR, the specs between the two are rather different.

The lower-end model will come with a 1080p 240hz panel which maxes out at a brightness of 400 nits. The higher end model meanwhile boosts the resolution to 4k (though drops the refresh rate to 144hz) while also bringing to max brightness up to 600 nits.

None of these devices were given prices, though with Sony reportedly set to announce the hardware some time next week, we won't have long to wait to find out.
