16-core Intel Xeon ‘Fishhawk Falls’ CPU emerges in benchmark database

Intel is currently working on revamping its HEDT line-up with a new round of Xeon processors. The next generation of HEDT Xeon chips are codenamed ‘Fishhawk Falls' and now, we're starting to learn more about their planned specifications, with the upcoming Xeon W5-3433 appearing in a benchmark database recently. 

The SiSoftware entry found by @momomo_us shows an Intel Xeon W5-3433 packing 16 cores and 32 threads, which suggests it will be succeeding the ‘Ice Lake' Xeon W-3335 chip with the same core configuration. The cores were clocked at 2GHz, which is expected for an early engineering sample. The listing also shows that the processor features 32MB of L2 cache (16 x 2MB per core) and 45MB of L3 cache.

According to rumours, Intel should release two new Xeon series: one based on Alder Lake and another on Sapphire Rapids. Based on the specifications in this listing, this chip belongs to the latter, as each core comes with 2MB of L2 cache per core, whereas Alder Lake chips have 1.25MB.

Unfortunately, we don't have a launch date for Intel's next-gen Xeon chips just yet. The latest roadmaps pointed to Q2 2022, so we should hear more over the summer.
