Apple's latest WWDC featured many announcements, but most importantly, it set the foundations for what's to come. Apple hasn't announced its full array of new-generation Macs and other devices just yet, but according to a new report, Apple has a ton coming in the second half of this year, including new accessories like the AirPods, new Smart Home devices like the Home Pod, as well as new Macs, iPhones and iPads.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will launch a massive set of devices between Fall 2022 and H1 2023. That includes four iPhone 14 models, three new versions of the Apple Watch, various M2/M3-based Macs, Apple's first mixed-reality headset, more iPads, revised AirPods Pro earbuds, an improved Apple TV and a new HomePod.
The new features coming with iOS 16 suggest the iPhone 14 devices will feature an always-on display, a setting to prevent sensitive data from showing on the lock screen, and the ability to show widgets while the screen is at a low brightness and frame rate. The pro variants will have better cameras, thinner bezels, the new A16 chip, and a redesigned notch with a pill-shaped cut-out and a hole punch for the selfie camera. The “lower-end” models will get the same A15 as the iPhone 13. On the iPad front, Apple is reportedly planning a new A14-powered iPad with 5G support, as well as new iPad Pro models powered by the newly launched M2 processor. There may also be a giant 15-inch iPad Pro on the way in the next year or two.
We've already seen the Apple M2 processor inside the latest MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, the SoC will also soon power new Mac Mini devices, and an M2 Pro or M2 Max should also be on the way to power larger, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Finally, an M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme should also be on the way inside of a new Mac Pro. An M3 chip is also reportedly in the works and should debut with the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air laptops in 2023. In addition, we may see Apple releasing a 12-inch laptop, currently in early development.
Finally, we should be getting a new generation of Apple Watch models in 2023, as well as a new Apple TV with more memory and a more powerful processor and a new HomePod with an upgraded chip and support for higher quality audio.
