Capcom showcases Hammer gameplay for Monster Hunter Wilds

Earlier this month, Capcom surprised Monster Hunter fans with new footage of the next-generation game, Monster Hunter Wilds. Releasing on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025, fans can now check out how combat has been updated for the fan-favourite Hammer weapon.

In previous trailers we got to see some of the new mechanics in Monster Hunter Wilds, including the new Focus Mode, which allows players to see the weak points on monsters in the heat of battle. Another trailer showcased other basic mechanics, which have not changed much from previous Monster Hunter games, so it should all look very familiar to veterans.

We've also had two weapon-focused trailers so far, including one focused on the Great Sword weapon type, and another focused on the rhythmic Hunting Horn. The latest trailer, found above, focuses on the Hammer.

The Hammer is another heavy weapon in Monster Hunter, offering a good mix of mobility and blunt force. With the hammer, players will be able to stun monsters and using focus mode, you'll be able to quickly target weak points to take beasts down in record time.

While the gameplay still looks familiar to long-time fans of the series, Capcom has been putting a lot of emphasis onto new features like Focus Mode, which will make the game more accessible for newcomers. Monster Hunter Wilds is due to release in the first half of 2025.
