Assassin’s Creed Syndicate finally gets 60fps update for current-gen consoles

Since the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S back in late 2020, we have seen Ubisoft update many of its Assassin’s Creed titles to support 60fps on the now-current-gen consoles. Oddly, one of the primary titles to not get updated was Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Finally, following an accidental leak by Ubisoft themselves, the publisher has now announced a PS5/Series X|S patch for AC: Syndicate.

Making the announcement via Twitter, the official Assassin’s Creed page shared the following: “The streets of London are calling…Free 60 FPS update available tomorrow on PS5, PS5 pro & Xbox Series X|S.”

Interestingly, unlike the other Assassin’s Creed titles which received 60fps patches on current-gen consoles, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate appears to be getting more than just a doubling of framerate.

According to the patch notes, AC: Syndicate on PS5 and Series X will now run at a native 4K resolution and 60fps. Given the fact that the game previously maxed out at 2880x1620p (on PS4 Pro / PS5), the uptick in resolution in combination with a doubling of the framerate should be quite transformative.

Series S players meanwhile will have to make do with just 1080p – though the game is still boosted to 60fps.

Last but not least, the update will come in a surprising range of file sizes, with the PlayStation patch being just 0.75GB – 40 times smaller than Xbox’s 31.8GB patch.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is one of the most underrated entries in the series, and so it is exciting to see the title finally getting a proper current-gen patch.
