No Man’s Sky update adds new graphics settings for PS5 Pro

We've been hearing rumours about the PS5 Pro for some time already. The new console, reportedly codenamed ‘Trinity', has now been referenced in game files for the first time, confirming the codename.

No Man's Sky recently had another massive update. After some datamining, it was discovered that a new graphics option has been added to the game on PS5, adding a new preset for ‘Trinity', the codename for the PS5 Pro.

This new preset improves the game's dynamic resolution scaling, bringing the floor up to 0.8x resolution scaling, meaning the same should run from anywhere between 1300p to 1730p depending on the scene. This is roughly up to a 77% increase in pixel count compared to the base PS5 version of the game. Other settings are also adjusted, so PS5 Pro players will get some settings bumped up to the Ultra preset, matching what is possible on gaming PCs.

There is still no word on when Sony will officially announce the PS5 Pro, or what games will support the new system at launch. However, it does appear that No Man's Sky will be on the list for day-one support. Sony's next major event will be TGS in September, so we may get an official announcement around that time.

KitGuru Says: Given that games are starting to add Trinity support, it would seem that the PS5 Pro is just around the corner. We would expect an announcement this year, with a launch in either Q4 2024, or in early 2025.
