Two years on from release, the XIII remake is getting a remake

Two years ago, XIII Remake launched and swiftly disappointed returning fans with major technical issues. Since then, the game has been handed over to a new studio to remake the remake.

XIII Remake launched with plenty of bugs, and fans also took issue with changes to art style and other elements of the game. Microids (publisher) and Play Magic (Developer) apologised for the state of the game at launch and quietly behind the scenes, Microids handed the project over to French studio, Tower Five. For over a year, Tower Five has been quietly reshaping the game.

As announced in a Steam Community update, XIII Remake will be getting a major update on the 13th of September, which will essentially be a re-launch for the game. This update will introduce a refined art style, enhanced AI, reworked HUD, revamped sound design, frame rate improvements on consoles and up to 13-player online multiplayer.

The update will of course be free to everyone who buys the game, which is currently 40% off for the Steam Summer Sale.

KitGuru Says: Unfortunately we don't have any screenshots of the new update, so we aren't sure how drastically the graphics have changed. I'd hold off on picking this up ahead of the update until we do, as the remake's art direction was one of the biggest complaints amongst fans.
