Roma is the world’s first development-oriented laptop using a RISC-V processor

We've seen plenty of gaming and creator-oriented laptops lately, but few that focus on developer needs. The Roma is looking to change that, acting as the world's first native RISC-V development laptops.

The Roma platform will feature an undisclosed NPU/GPU to handle video and AI workloads and a security enclave quad-core processor with free SoC and SOM upgrades. The laptop will also pack up to 16GB of LPDDR4/LPDDR4X memory and up to 256GB of storage. As a RISC-V-based laptop, don't expect to run Windows on it, but you will be able to run most Linux distros.

The upcoming RISC-V development laptop will feature a built-in MetaMask-style wallet. In addition, the press release markets its capabilities of creating and publishing NFTs, offering a single “Web3-friendly platform” for developers. However, the laptop won't be limited to that, as RISC-V can be used to develop applications for many other fields, including AI, AR/VR, automotive, cloud and edge computing, device controllers, IoT, and machine learning.

You can now pre-order the Roma by filling up a small application. The first 100 pre-orders will come with an NFT. The laptop's pricing and shipping dates were not disclosed.
