Monster Hunter Rise released last year on Switch to explosive success. The game’s much-anticipated ‘Sunbreak’ expansion has been out for just one week, however in that time it has already managed to ship 2 million units.
Making the announcement via a press release, Capcom revealed that “Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the massive premium expansion for Monster Hunter Rise for Nintendo Switch and PC, has shipped 2 million units worldwide.”
Seeing as how Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak only launched on the 29th of June and it requires players to own the base game in order to access the expansion, 2 million units in less than a week is a major achievement.
Capcom also offered updated figures for other titles in the franchise, revealing that Monster Hunter Rise has officially shipped over 10 million units since its launch in March 2021. Rise also came to PC earlier this year, giving the game a nice boost in sales and helping it to reach such impressive numbers so quickly.
2018’s Monster Hunter World meanwhile, has shipped a staggering 21 million units, continuing the game’s position as the best selling Capcom title of all time. Then again, with how quickly Rise and Sunbreak are ‘rising' up the ranks, it's entirely possible that by this time next year, Monster Hunter Rise might be Capcom’s biggest game ever.
