Riot is raising League of Legends and TFT in-game currency prices

League of Legends was at the forefront of free-to-play gaming over a decade ago, offering in-game currency and microtransactions before it became the widespread norm. In-game currency prices have been fixed in place for a while, but Riot has recently announced a price hike of 10% on average.

Buying in-game currency to spend in League of Legends or Team Fight Tactics is getting more expensive, In Europe, the average price has risen by 9.8 percent, and here in the UK, the average price has risen by 10.9 percent.

You can see the new UK pricing in the table below:

Old Price (GBP) Old Total Currency New Price (GBP) New Total Currency
5.00 730 4.49 575
10.00 1520 10.99 1450
15.00 2330 20.99 2850
20.00 3080 34.99 5000
35.00 5480 49.99 7250
50.00 7920 99.99 15000

And here's the comparison table for Europe:

Old Price (EUR) Old Total Currency New Price (EUR) New Total Currency
2.50 310 4.99 575
5.00 650 10.99 1380
10.00 1380 21.99 2800
20.00 2800 34.99 4500
35.00 5000 49.99 6500
50.00 7200 99.99 13500

These new prices will go into effect on the 19th of August, so if you plan on making any in-game purchases in LoL or TFT, then you have time to stock up before prices go up.

According to Riot, these changes are being made due to currency fluctuations and worldwide inflation.

KitGuru Says: It's always unfortunate when something like this happens, but it isn't uncommon practice either, particularly for on-going online games.
