Nintendo’s strategy when it comes to game announcements is rather inconsistent, with some titles seeing months or years of publicity and hype prior to its release – with others getting announced out of the blue. Kirby’s Dream Buffet falls into the latter, with the surprise title set to launch this summer.
In an unexpected announcement, Nintendo revealed Kirby’s Dream Buffet, a 4-person 4-round party game where players must “race through delicious obstacle courses to collect strawberries as Kirby grows. Then, turn the tides in the final round—a fruity fight atop a floating platform.”
Offering both online and local multiplayer, Kirby’s Dream Buffet appears to take inspiration from the likes of Fall Guys – though with its own Kirby twist. We do not yet know what price Nintendo plans to sell the game for, however considering the fact that it is due out this Summer, we will most likely be told sooner rather than later.
The Kirby franchise has always offered a wide variety of differing experiences, all at different price points too. We have seen full-priced premium Kirby titles (such as the recently released Kirby and the Forgotten Land) but also free-to-start titles such as was the case with Super Kirby Clash.
Regardless of its price, Kirby’s Dream Buffet certainly looks like a fun time. Hopefully Nintendo and HAL Laboratories are putting their full weight behind this title – especially in the wake of Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s success.
