Intel Arc GPU launch reportedly hampered by issues

It's hard to ignore the fact that Intel's Arc Alchemist GPU rollout has been going very slowly. For now, only the entry-level A380 desktop GPU has launched, and only in select regions. The more capable A750 and A770 GPUs are still due ‘this summer', but according to a report this week, Intel is having issues getting partners on board due to “quality concerns”.

According to a report from Igor's Lab, one of Intel's ‘big board partners' has halted production of Arc Alchemist graphics cards. It is claimed that production was paused due to ‘quality concerns'. It has also been suggested that partners aren't getting the same level of support for RMA and returns compared to deals with AMD and Nvidia.

It is also thought that Intel will primarily be focusing on the OEM and system integration market with this initial GPU rollout, with less of a focus on retail, which could spell questions for availability.

While Intel's rollout has been slow, the company is now preparing for the launch of the A750 and A770 graphics cards and the company has begun discussing performance a bit more openly, sharing the first A750 gaming benchmarks.

KitGuru Says: With Arc Alchemist GPUs taking so long and AiB support still uncertain, there are a lot of question marks around launch. Hopefully the situation starts to clear up in the weeks ahead.
