Microsoft reportedly planning Windows 12 for 2024

Prior to Windows 10, Microsoft would release a new version of Windows roughly every three to four years. It seems that following on from Windows 11, Microsoft will be returning to this release cadence, meaning we'll be seeing Windows 12 in 2024. 

As reported by Windows Central, Microsoft is shaking up its Windows division again to go back to three-year release cycles for new versions of Windows. Microsoft is said to already have plans for Windows 12, which should release in 2024.

This has also made some changes to planned updates for Windows 11. While Microsoft initially planned to continue providing two major updates per year, just as it did with Windows 10, the company is now looking to roll out new features more sporadically. We'll be getting a major Windows 11 update before the end of 2022, and then, as The Verge points out, Microsoft will then roll out new features whenever they are ready through 2023, rather than getting many features packaged together in one big update.

Microsoft has not publicly confirmed its Windows roadmap, but we should get some official Windows related news soon as the Windows 11 22H2 update gets closer.
