Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge is the ultimate throwback experience for TMNT fans who were brought up in the 90s during the height of the franchise’s zeitgeist. It seems the pizza-loving sewer-dwelling turtles still have ‘it’ as TMNT: Shredder's Revenge has sold over 1 million copies in just one month.
Making the announcement on Twitter, Dotemu, the game’s publisher, revealed this milestone, saying “TMNT #ShreddersRevenge sold over 1 million copies around the world [since its launch on the 16th of June] and we can't thank you enough for your everlasting support.”
Taking this moment to acknowledge all those involved in its creation, the publisher said “Working on TMNT was the challenge of a lifetime and everything became possible thanks to @Nickelodeon and the incredible work of @TributeGames!”
TMNT Shredder's Revenge is an authentic throwback side-scrolling beat 'em up which pays homage to the turtles’ legacy while also adding to it. Hopefully the success of Shredders Revenge kickstarts the return, revival and revolution of classic gaming experiences.
A TMNT Cowabunga collection is on its way, collecting and collating the turtles’ classic arcade and console titles into one package. It will be interesting to see how the Cowabunga Collection compares to Shredder’s Revenge, especially as the latter launched day-one on Xbox Game Pass.
