God of War Ragnarök to offer multiple graphics options on PS5

Console gaming has historically been known for offering few options when it comes to graphics and performance. Thankfully, the added power of the ‘next-gen’ consoles has allowed for developers to give players more flexibility with their games. God of War Ragnarök will be no exception, offering multiple graphics and performance options on PS5.

Ahead of pre-orders for God of War Ragnarök going live later today, online retailer ShopTo sent out promotional emails for the title, giving fans insight into the game’s graphics and performance options.

According to the email (sourced by NeoGaf user DonJorginho), God of War Ragnarök will offer two graphics modes, saying: “Switch between full 4K resolution at a targeted 30 frames per second, or dynamic resolution upscaled to 4K at a targeted 60fps.”

So far, Sony (among many other developers) have made it a point to offer two or more graphics options – especially if the game is a cross-gen title. God of War 2018 supported multiple graphics options on the PS4 Pro and so it is not surprising to see Sony Santa Monica continuing to offer such options.

Unfortunately, unlike many first-party PS5 titles, it seems God of War Ragnarök will not include a 40fps mode for those with a 120hz TV. It is worth noting however that such a frame rate is still rather rare, with a majority of the games which offer it having done so through an update post-launch.

God of War Ragnarök is not set to release until the 9th of November, meaning that between now and then, the studio could work on a 40fps mode. We will have to wait and see. Regardless, it is good to see 30fps and 60fps modes being made available.
