Throughout the year, Twitter keeps track of the video game discussions taking place on its platform. Last year, the social network announced that Genshin Impact was the most Tweeted about game for all of 2021. 6 months into 2022 and the free-to-play title continues its reign at the top.
Taking to their blog, Twitter gave gaming fans insight into the discussions happening on their platform, revealing that across the more than 1.5 billion gaming-related Tweets “Genshin Impact remained atop the charts for Most Tweeted About Video Game globally, after claiming the title in 2021. And everyone’s favorite daily activity, Wordle, took the no. 2 spot.”
The full top 10 list for the first half of 2022 is as follows:
- Genshin Impact
- Wordle
- Ensemble Stars!
- Final Fantasy
- Project Sekai
- Apex Legends
- Elden Ring
- Fate/Grand Order
- Valorant
- The Legend of Zelda
While this list shares many similarities with last year’s most discussed games, there have been some interesting shifts, with titles including Minecraft, Fortnite and Animal Crossing: New Horizons not making this year’s top 10.
Of course, we are only halfway through the year, and with heavy hitters such as God of War Ragnarok and Splatoon 3 still on their way, the top 10 list may look entirely different come the end of 2022. We will have to wait and see.
