Diablo 4 footage leaks following Blizzard ‘friends and family’ playtest

Blizzard revealed a good chunk of Diablo 4 gameplay back in June, but much of the game is still under wraps. Recently we heard that Blizzard was hosting a ‘friends and family' alpha test for the game, inviting a small selection of people with ties to the studio to play the game. Awkwardly, this has resulted in a few leaks.

New gameplay footage for Diablo 4 has been circulating online and Blizzard has swiftly been striking the videos down with DMCA claims. The leaked gameplay includes the character customisation screen, as well as the game setup screen where you select options for your campaign and pick a difficulty setting.

The video had a clear watermark in view, so Activision Blizzard has likely already identified where the leak came from and revoked access, so don't expect much more to come out of this.

Diablo 4 will have ‘world tiers' for difficulty, and the leak shows that the tutorial has two world tier difficulties – one for beginners and one for veterans. We would expect to see more difficulty options in the final game.

Blizzard has not yet announced a launch date for Diablo 4, but Blizzard has begun taking sign-ups for beta access in the future. The full game is expected to release sometime in 2023.

KitGuru Says: The leak isn't hugely exciting and revealed very little. Still, Blizzard will likely take this very seriously, as the leak came directly from a private test build given to ‘friends and family'.
