Back in November 2021, Bandai Namco surprised us with the reveal of Dragon Ball: The Breakers, an asymmetrical multiplayer game that takes clear inspiration from Dead by Daylight and similar titles. After months of playtests, the game will finally be releasing this October.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is set in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse universe, which heavily incorporates Time Travel and alternate timeline scenarios. In The Breakers timeline, super villains like Freiza, Cell and Majin Buu have invaded earth while the Z-fighters are nowhere to be found.
One player will take on the roll of the villain character, while seven other players will be human survivors trying to avoid getting caught. The villain will hunt down the survivors throughout the map, while the survivors will complete objectives and gather items to aid their escape to safety.
It is certainly a very different take on the Dragon Ball IP and something I don't think any of us expected to see. Dragon Ball: The Breakers will release on the 14th of October for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. There is not a dedicated Xbox Series X/S or PS5 version, but the game will be accessible on both consoles through backwards compatibility.

KitGuru Says: Modern Dragon Ball games tend to stick to one of three categories, card battlers, 2D fighters and 3D fighters. With that in mind, it's nice to see something entirely different and unexpected for a Dragon Ball video game. Will you be looking to give this a try when it comes out?
