Doom creator is working on a new FPS with Unreal Engine 5

John Romero has worked on plenty of smaller game projects since breaking away from id Software following work on Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein 3D. Now, Romero Games is looking to produce something bigger. This week, the studio announced that it is now working with a major publisher to develop a new first-person shooter with Unreal Engine 5.

In an announcement posted yesterday afternoon, Romero confirmed that he is working on a new first-person shooter, and that his studio is hiring. The new game will be based on a new, original IP and the game will be built using the newly released Unreal Engine 5.

Romero Games will be hiring developers with Unreal Engine 5 experience, and while the company is based in Ireland, the studio will accept remote workers, as well as those who prefer to be on-site, or those who prefer a hybrid model where they don't have to be in the office all the time.

At this time, the studio seems to already have a few very experienced developers, including former leaders on franchises like Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Crysis and others.

Right now, there is no release date, trailer or any other information. The studio is just getting started, so it could be a while before we see the game properly revealed.
