The same reviewer that brought us the performance figures of the Intel Core i9-13900K pre-production sample has now shared another analysis showing its gaming performance. While the upcoming 13th Gen processor doesn't make huge gains in average frame rates, it does make a noticeable difference to the minimum frame rate in games.
Chinese reviewer Extreme Player posted the analysis video on Baidu (via @harukaze5719), allowing us to have a first look at the Raptor Lake flagship CPU ahead of its release. Note that this is a qualification sample. Even so, performance should be close to what we'll get from the retail version.

The reviewer gathered data from many games, including Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 6, Forza Horizon 5, Monster Hunter: Rise, PUBG, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, and CSGO. Moreover, they also tested the CPU on 3DMark Time Spy and FireStrike. The testing system was built using an Asus ROG Z690 Extreme motherboard with 32GB of DDR5-6400 and an MSI RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X graphics card. All this was powered by a 1500W PSU.
Regardless of the resolution, the average and maximum frame rates of the Core i9-13900K-based system were only 7% higher, but there were much more significant gains in minimum frame rate. At 4K, the 13th Gen system delivers 11 percent higher minimum frame rates, and minimum frame rates were 28 percent higher at 1080p.
The reviewer also shared a chart showing power consumption across the test stack. As you might've guessed, the Core i9-12900KF consumed less power than the Core i9-13900K. The only exception was in Forza Horizon 5 at 1080p, where the Raptor Lake chip consumed 3W less. With that in mind, expect next-gen CPUs to be more power hungry on average compared to the current generation.
