While there is some debate over whether or not The Last of Us Part 1 is worth the upgrade for PS5 owners, for PC gamers, this will be their first chance to experience the game. Currently, the game is on track to release on PS5 in September, and according to one Naughty Dog employee, the PC launch won't be far behind.
Sony has yet to announce a proper release date for The Last of Us Part 1 on PC. There are currently several games already on track to land on PC this year, including Spider-Man Remastered in August, Spider-Man Miles Morales later in the year, and the delayed release of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
While there has been a lengthy gap between Uncharted's re-release on PS5 and the still-to-launch PC version, it sounds like we won't be waiting nearly as long between The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5 and PC. Jonathan Benaino, a Senior Environment Texture Artist at Naughty Dog recently responded to a fan asking about the PC release, claiming that it should be coming “very soon after the PS5 release”.
With that in mind, we could be seeing The Last of Us Part 1 sneaking onto Steam before the end of this year, or perhaps it will have an early 2023 release, similarly to God of War, which was announced for PC in late 2021 and then released in February 2022.
