Intel Meteor Lake core architectures revealed

Intel Raptor Lake hasn't even been released yet, but there are already many rumours around Intel's planned Meteor Lake processors. Thanks to Microsoft logs, we seem to have confirmation on one rumour – that Meteor Lake would back new Redwood Cove and Crestmont architectures for the P-cores and E-cores. 

These architecture names leaked back in 2020, but lacked confirmation. That changed last week when logs were shared by InstLatX64, which point towards Redwood Cove and Crestmont.

Intel Meteor Lake is expected to release in Q4 2023, featuring a new iGPU architecture (Xe-LPG) packing up to 192 EUs. Rumours claim it may use a new LGA1851 socket, but it should maintain cooler compatibility with LGA1700. PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory support are also expected.

Besides the new P-cores and E-cores, reports also claim Meteor Lake chips will feature a new low-power set of cores within the SoC to further improve efficiency.

KitGuru says: It seems some of those very early Meteor Lake rumours were accurate. Still, these processors are still over a year away from launch, and Intel's focus right now is on Raptor Lake, which is launching this year.
