Dark Pictures games get free PS5 and Series X versions with new ending

Supermassive Games has spent the past few years expanding its Dark Pictures Anthology of titles, with the series now spanning across two console generations. In order to make for a more cohesive package, a number of entries in the Dark Pictures Anthology now have bespoke PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases.

As reported by Wario64, new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of both Man of Medan and Little Hope have popped up on each console’s respective stores, bringing the two earliest entries more in line with the remainder of the series technologically.

These new versions come with much more than a simple facelift in the form of improved graphics and performance however, they also add a whole host of new content, including:

  • Difficulty settings & QTE warnings, improved UI & interactions, updated bearing’s art & event triggers, increased walk speeds and wider accessibility options including subtitle sizing.
  • (Man of Medan) Discover an extended playable chapter “Flooded”, introducing new deaths in this climatic ending to the game!

The various Dark Pictures Anthology games have been hit or miss from entry to entry. As such, it is interesting and exciting to see that these upgrades come with not only graphical improvements, but changes to the core game itself. Both Man of Medan and Little Hope can be upgraded for free assuming you own the game on a previous-gen system.
