Edifier MS50A WiFi Smart Speaker Review

Rating: 8.5.

Today we're taking a look at Edifier's brand new MS50A wireless smart speaker. With a 4in woofer and 19mm silk tweeter, this speaker offers Alexa and Apple AirPlay 2 support, and if you buy two units you can pair them up in stereo mode. This stylish product certainly looks the part, but how does it perform and is it worth buying over other market leaders like Bose and Sonos?

Pros:

  • Stunning wood + fabric design.
  • Build quality feels premium.
  • Responsive touch controls.
  • Stereo support.
  • Alexa, Airplay, Spotify, TIDAL support.
  • Great bass.
  • Good loudness without compromising on quality.
  • No microphone for improved privacy.

Cons:

  • No microphone for Alexa control.
  • Bass can be a bit much.
  • Wood + fabric design could be considered outdated .
  • For those avoiding animal products the tweeters use silk + wool.

KitGuru says: In general, this speaker performs brilliantly, the added support for stereo setups definitely makes it a viable option as a speaker set-up for Apple products that can fully utilise the Wi-Fi support with AirPlay 2. For Windows and Android users support is less flexible but Spotify and Alexa support is still a totally viable way to use this product. It's stylish, and it sounds great. I think it's worth buying.
