Solidgm launches first PCIe 4.0 SSD and Synergy software

Back in 2020, SK Hynix acquired Intel's SSD business. Since then, the company has spun that into Solidgm, a new SSD brand, which is launching its first drive this month, offering PCIe 4.0 speeds and up to 2TB of storage space.

The Solidigm P41 Plus is a PCIe 4.0 SSD capable of delivering up to 4,125 MB/s sequential read speed. The SSD uses 144-layer 3D NAND in capacities from 512GB up to 2TB. As pointed out by Anandtech, this M.2 SSD appears to be a successor to the Intel 670p, but with a better controller capable of delivering more performance.

The Solidigm P41 Plus features 144-layer 3D NAND and is available in an M.2 2280 form factor in capacities of 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. For increased design flexibility, the Solidigm P41 Plus is also available to OEMs in 2230 and 2242 sizes from online and retail channels.

In addition to the hardware, Solidgm has also released its own Solidgm Synergy software, an optional suite that includes both a storage driver and a Windows application with drive health monitoring tools. The Solidigm Storage Driver supports host-managed caching by monitoring usage patterns to identify high-priority data, keeping the most important items in the cache, and enabling faster reads as the drive fills up.
