Sabrent unveils Microsoft DirectStorage-optimised SSD

Most gaming-grade SSDs don't differ much from your standard SSD. Most of the time, the only difference between a gaming SSD and a general-purpose SSD is the aesthetics. However, the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus G might be different, as the company designed a new firmware from the ground up to ensure the SSD can sustain a high level of performance even during long gaming sessions.

Available with up to 4TB of storage capacity, the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus G uses the company's state-of-the-art O2 GO firmware to maintain itself healthy, allowing it to operate at peak performance for longer periods. Moreover, Sabrent's new SSD is ready for Microsoft's DirectStorage API, which promises to enhance application and game performance, delivering a smoother user experience.

Using 1,600MT/s 3D TLC NAND flash, DRAM and SLC caching, the Rocket 4 Plus G can transfer data at over 7 GB/s, reducing loading times considerably compared to older storage devices. Those who buy the Rocket 4 Plus G SSD will notice it comes with a slim heat spreader, but you can use Sabrent's new gaming heatsink for extra cooling if you've got the room to spare.

The Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus G is now available to pre-order. The 1TB model goes for $169.99, the 2TB for $299.99, and the 4TB for $699.99. The heatsink is available separately for $29.99.
