THQ Nordic to revive classic survival horror IP ‘Alone in the Dark’

For the last few months, there has been a mysterious Twitter account that has been leaking a bunch of high profile games with a high rate of accuracy. The user has been quiet for a little while, but returned this week just ahead of THQ's next showcase.

The Snitch is a Twitter user who appeared in June and swiftly made a name for themselves with a number of leaks around Sony's State of Play stream, and other big announcements made over the summer. Now, they are back again, this time hinting at a new Alone in the Dark game. THQ Nordic acquired this survival horror IP quite some time ago and it seems they are ready to reveal something new.

The Snitch has been so accurate with their leaks that we have wondered how they are managing it. The leading theory right now is that this person has access to YouTube's database, allowing them to see the titles for private and unlisted videos, which game publishers will upload in the days ahead of a major showcase so they can make each trailer live swiftly after a public announcement.

This latest leak adds some weight to that theory. THQ Nordic's showcase takes place in a few days, on the 12th of August. It is likely that the company has begun uploading trailers to YouTube in unlisted form ahead of the event.

Alone in the Dark is a survival horror series that originally began in the 90s, and was rebooted in 2008. The last game in the series was released in 2015 but it did not review well. In 2018, THQ Nordic acquired the IP and has presumably been working on a revival ever since.

KitGuru Says: It looks like the Alone in the Dark series is set to return fairly soon. Given this leaker's previous accuracy, it is highly likely that this will be part of THQ Nordic's upcoming showcase.
