In recent weeks, Epic Games has been introducing quite a lot of changes to Fortnite. From its return to the iOS platform, the rumours that the game will get its own dedicated Marvel store and more, Epic is clearly looking to revamp the live-service game in some ways. The latest move now sees the introduction of a dedicated Fortnite Web Shop.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Fortnite account unveiled this latest feature, saying “Hey there, Web Shop. Fortnite Web Shop is live now!! A brand new way to view and purchase items currently in rotation. This Web Shop functions as an extension to the in-game Shop. Including the ability to apply Support-A-Creator codes to purchases!”
While the addition of a web shop is of course purely to incentivise players to purchase more skins and cosmetics (and possibly to avoid platform fees), the added convenience of having a web store is nice for those who are looking for a specific skin.
Furthermore, the web store itself seems pretty comprehensive so far, with you able to view full 3D models of the skins and items.
Given how often the Fortnite shop rotates its available cosmetics, being able to access the shop without needing to download/update Fortnite is a welcome quality of life improvement if nothing else.
