Ubisoft Forward will reportedly feature 4 new Assassin’s Creed games

On the 10th of September, Ubisoft will be going live with its ‘Ubisoft Forward’ games showcase, where the publisher has confirmed it will include “a special Assassin's Creed showcase offering a peek at the future of the franchise”. It was already known that the recently announced Assassin’s Creed Mirage would be at the event, but according to insiders, we might actually see four new AC games announced.

Ahead of the Ubisoft Forward showcase, known industry insider Tom Henderson (via tryhardguides) reported that on top of our first proper look at the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage (set in Baghdad), the publisher will be announcing a number of other Assassin Creed projects at the event.

While AC Mirage will be a standalone title, two of the other projects – dubbed Project Red and Project Hexe/Neo – are said to be part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity: The franchise’s first foray into live-service experiences.

According to Henderson, Project Red is said to take place in Japan – a long requested location for the AC franchise to delve into. The game will seemingly be set during the samurai era, with players likely being able to select either a female or male assassin (though Henderson himself only saw concept art featuring a female assassin).

Project Hexe (formerly known as Project Neo) will reportedly be the darkest Assassin’s Creed game yet, with the title set “during the witch hunt era in 16th century Europe”. Project Hexe is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the studio responsible for the original Assassin’s Creed as well as AC II; Brotherhood; Revelations; Black Flag and Valhalla – to name just a few.

The final Assassin’s Creed title ‘confirmed’ to be at the event is Project Jade: a mobile title which will be set in China.

With so many Assassin's Creed titles set to be announced at the Ubisoft Forward event on the 10th of September, it will be interesting to see how the publisher positions these games, especially as the AC franchise is known for its evolutionary – not revolutionary – approach to game design. We don’t have too much longer to wait in order to find out.
