Sony unveils DualSense Edge controller to take on the Xbox Elite series

Earlier this year, rumours claimed that Sony was working on its own ‘Pro' version of the DualSense controller, similarly to Microsoft's Xbox Elite controller. This week at Gamescom, Sony officially unveiled the DualSense Edge, a high-end version of the controller with more buttons and customisation options.

As you may expect from an “elite-level” controller, the DualSense Edge will feature customisable controls, allowing users to remap keys, deactivate buttons and even adjust the trigger's dead zones and travel distance, as well as analogue stick sensitivity and dead zones. After customising the controller to your liking, you may save the configuration as a preset. You'll be able to save multiple profiles and change between them while gaming using the controller's Fn button. This same button can also be used to adjust the game and chat volume and balance and access controller profile settings.

Like the Xbox Elite controller, the DualSense Edge also has swappable analogue sticks, so you can use Sony's standard thumbsticks, or switch to a taller, domed analogue stick, or a low profile version. You also get two sets of back buttons, which you can add to the controller for even more button inputs.

The DualSense Edge controller includes a carrying case and a braided USB-C cable with a locking connector to ensure you can't detach the cable accidentally. Pricing and availability details haven't been shared.
