Sonic Frontiers will let you customise running speed, steering sensitivity, acceleration and more

3D Sonic the Hedgehog titles have been consistent in their inconsistencies when it comes to the way Sonic feels to control. With the upcoming Sonic Frontiers however, it seems as though SEGA will be allowing fans to customise the way sonic feels exactly to their liking, making the blue blur feel more like he did in previous titles if you so desire.

Twitter user ‘StartZ_HHK’ managed to get their hands on the Sonic Frontiers demo at Gamescom, taking a short video and giving us our first look at the settings menu (at least in its current iteration).

Unlike previous titles, Sonic Frontiers’ settings menu is comprehensive and impressive, especially when it comes to the way you can alter how Sonic feels. Whether for accessibility purposes, or just for personal preference, you will be able to tweak nearly every aspect to Sonic’s controls, with the menu including sliders for:

  • Starting Speed
  • Initial Boost Speed
  • Turning Speed
  • Boost Turning Speed
  • Top Speed
  • Steering Sensitivity
  • Acceleration
  • Bounce Height
  • Camera Speed
  • Camera Distance
  • Camera Angle

As mentioned, while this will be excellent for accessibility, it will also make Sonic Frontiers infinitely more replayable due to the sheer number of tweaks, while also allowing you to replicate the various different game-feels of previous Sonic titles.

We will have to wait and see what the full and final settings menu offers when the game launches on the 8th of November, but so far Sonic Frontiers is looking quite promising.
