Alleged AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT PCB diagram leaks out

There's still much to learn about the upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series, but as the release of the new GPUs approaches, rumours and leaks will become more frequent. Just yesterday, a PCB diagram of a Radeon RX 7900 XT card leaked, revealing some of the components on the graphics card.

The leaked PCB layout obtained by Igor'sLAB supposedly belongs to an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT card. It's unclear if this is the reference design or a custom one. The layout shows the GPU die has seven chiplets inside, six MCDs (Memory Complex Die) and one GCD (Graphic Complex Die) at the centre. In addition, we can see the GPU is surrounded by three groups of four modules of GDDR6 memory for up to 24GB.

Surrounding the memory and the GPU, we have 21 voltage converters to handle the power directed at these components, as well as the SOC and VDDCI. Although the diagram doesn't confirm the number of phases, the leaker believes it will use eight, similar to Nvidia.

The diagram also shows the graphics card will be powered by 3x 8pin power connectors, meaning power consumption could be as high as 450W. However, the actual TBP should be lower than that. Moreover, the diagram suggests the card will have an HDMI interface and 3x DisplayPorts, but the standards are still unclear.

AMD hasn't yet introduced the Radeon RX 7000 series, but it shouldn't take long before we get a proper announcement for the upcoming graphics cards. Hopefully, this will happen before the year ends.

KitGuru says: The technical specifications of the Radeon RX 7900 XT suggest it will be pretty capable, but actual performance numbers are unknown. Hopefully, we will learn more about that soon.
