Following on from a test phase last month, Microsoft has now officially announced the new Xbox Game Pass ‘friends and family' tier. While this was initially rumoured as a family plan, Microsoft is leaning into the fact that friend groups often share access to services too.
The Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family tier is now live for all in Colombia and Ireland. In Ireland, the tier will cost €21.99 per month, which is very reasonable considering you can grant access to four other people, giving you five Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions for roughly the cost of two separate Game Pass Ultimate memberships.
You can't share your subscription with players in another country, but Microsoft isn't going as far as Netflix and attempting to charge per individual household. In addition, you get full Game Pass Ultimate benefits, including Xbox Live Gold, access to console and PC games, access to EA Play and monthly perks.
Microsoft has not announced when it will roll this tier out to other countries, so for now, it is only available in Colombia and Ireland.

KitGuru Says: If the UK pricing ends up coming in at around £20 per month for the friends and family tier, that would be a good deal, but I wouldn't expect it to last forever.
