Philips has been launching many gaming monitors in the last few years, and that trend continues this month. The company has recently introduced the Momentum 34M1C5500VA, a curved gaming monitor with an ultrawide panel and a high refresh rate.
The 34-inch VA panel has a 1500R curvature and 3440×1440 resolution. With 4ms G2G response time (1ms MPRT) and 165Hz refresh rate, gamers should have a decent experience with this monitor. Typical brightness is set at 300 nits and the contrast ratio at 3000:1, which is commonplace for VA panels. With an 8-bit colour depth, the screen can cover 120.7% of the sRGB colour gamut and 100% of the NTSC spectrum.
Besides supporting Adaptive Sync, PiP, PbP and low blue light and EasyRead modes, the 34M1C5500VA also features SmartImage HDR, which includes various HDR presets to choose from. Moreover, the two 5W speakers might come in handy to watch content without your headset/headphones/earphones on.
Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, two DisplayPort 1.4, a 3.5mm audio-out jack and a USB hub with four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports. The included stand offers height adjustment, as well as tilt and swivel capabilities, which should be more than enough for the average consumer. However, there's always VESA 100×100 mount support if you prefer to mount the monitor on a different stand. The new monitor is already available to order at some European stores, with prices around the €500 mark.
