Discord is one of the most popular messaging platforms used by video game enthusiasts thanks to its voice chat functionalities and room-based servers. It was previously confirmed that the service would soon be coming to systems other than PC and mobile – namely PlayStation and Xbox. With PlayStation getting the functionality earlier this year, Discord is now officially on Xbox.
Making the announcement on the Xbox Blog, Eric Voreis, the Principal Product Manager of Player Experience and Platforms at Xbox said “Starting today, Discord Voice is available on all Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.”
Elaborating further on its implementation, Voreis explained “With this update, you can now chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from your console, making it easy to connect with friends across mobile, Xbox, and PC.”
The integration will also allow you to see who is in the call and speaking while you are playing on your console, as well as being able to adjust the sound and switch between Discord Voice and Xbox game chat on the fly while you play.
With more and more games allowing for cross-play and cross-save, it is exciting to see a single uniform platform of communication coming into form – allowing for everyone to communicate and play with everyone no matter your platform of choice.
