Todd Howard talks Starfield RPG mechanics, dialogue and space travel

Starfield had an excellent showing during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase back in June. The game is still a while off from launching, but this week, Bethesda gave us a new update, with Todd Howard discussing the game's classic RPG and hard sci-fi inspirations.

Bethesda has released a number of developer diary-style updates, with various leads on the game discussing what's to come. Through these videos, we've seen new concept art, and we've learned little bits about the lore behind the game. In the latest video, it is just Todd Howard, tackling some community questions:

The video goes into some detail on the game's sci-fi approach, which involved research into quantum physics while crafting space flight mechanics and the gravity drive for ships.

In the video, Howard is once again very proud of Starfield's focus on dialogue, noting again that the game has over a hundred thousand more lines of dialogue compared to Fallout 4. The game will use Bethesda's classic-style dialogue system for Starifled, allowing for more nuance and options when interacting with NPCs.

Starfield was initially going to release in November but was pushed back to the first half of 2023. A new release date has not yet been announced.

KitGuru Says: I was sold on Starfield following Todd Howard's presentation in June. The game sounds like it is going to be great. Hopefully, we won't have to wait much longer to find out when we'll be getting our hands on it.
