Each month, just as how they bring a bunch of new games to the PS Plus service, Sony also removes a number of games. Unfortunately, next month’s line-up of departees includes a massive first-party title in the form of Horizon Forbidden West.
In going to the PlayStation Plus section on your PS5, you’ll find a list of 12 titles under the ‘Last Chance to Play’ section. Leaving the service at some point next month (likely the 17th) are the following:
- Alien Isolation
- Cloudpunk
- Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Marvel's Midnight Suns
- NieR Replicant
- Spiritfarer
- Star Ocean: First Departure R
- Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
- Star Ocean: The Divine Force
- Star Ocean: The Last Hope
- Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Of course, easily the biggest and most surprising title set to leave is Horizon Forbidden West – not only because of this critical and commercial success, but also due to the fact that it is a first-party PlayStation title.
Oddly enough, one of the few other first-party titles to leave the service was Horizon Zero Dawn a couple months ago – though at the time we speculated it may be due to the long-rumoured remake.
Regardless, PlayStation removing first-party titles from its own service is a major blow to PS Plus as a whole, and sets a troubling precedent for the future of the service.
