Starfield: Shattered Space will explore one of the game’s biggest mysteries

Bethesda left plenty of open-ended plot threads in Starfield. The game's upcoming expansion, Shattered Space, will focus on one of the biggest, sending players off to find the home planet of House Va'ruun.

The House of Va'ruun is a secretive religious group in Starfield and you'll encounter some members throughout the game. One of the main characters in the constellation group, Andreja, who is also a romance option in the base game, has close ties to the House of Va'ruun, so she will no doubt be a big part of the upcoming Shattered Space expansion.

While the House of Va'ruun is a known quantity in the Starfield universe, their exact location, number of members and home city of Darza are all shrouded in mystery. Shattered Space will explore this exact plot thread, after picking up a mysterious distress signal from a derelict star station. The expansion promises to put players “on a path to Va'ruun'kai”, where we will “uncover the secrets surrounding the followers of the Great Serpent and ultimately decide the future of House Va'ruun”.

Ultimately, it sounds like another big main faction quest, similar in scope to the other faction questlines currently in Starfield. The Shattered Space expansion officially launches on the 30th of September for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Anyone who picked up the Premium Edition of the game will get access to the expansion at no extra cost. It will also be sold separately for those who only bought the base game.

KitGuru Says: Andreja was my main companion throughout my first Starfield playthrough, so I already had a keen interest in this plot thread. With that in mind, I am very excited to jump into Shattered Space. The best part of most Bethesda games tends to be the faction quests, so hopefully this one can rank amongst the best.
